Their quest had recently led them to Dragon’s Nest, where they boarded a wrecked cargo freighter. Inside the pitch-black cargo hold, a desperate battle immediately commenced. Surrounded by magical darkness, the crew stood against the looming threat of a Giant Security Construct and vicious Mechanical Guard Dogs, while their companion E.R.N.E. lay unconscious nearby.

The swift velociraptor monk Soren Swiftscale lunged into the fray, coordinating with Nul Konn, who used his mystical wits to weave Sanctuary on Quack and protect the crew. The Reverend Doctor Professor Archibald Grey scrambled onto a crate to escape the grease slicking the floor, while Hazel Treerton unleashed a barrage from her sub-repeater blaster. After Hazel dismissed the dark shroud, Soren seized the moment. Invoking a Vow of Fate, Soren jammed a claw deep into the joints of the Giant Security Construct, gumming up its internal lubricants and destroying the behemoth.

Though the giant construct fell, the remaining Mechanical Guard Dogs continued their vicious assault, biting Grey and burning Soren with a sudden explosive burst from a destroyed unit’s hips. Bridge logs revealed the freighter was inexplicably pointed toward an unexplored, empty corner of the galaxy. After extracting a hard drive from the console and narrowly evading the dust explosion of the dead giant construct, the crew compared the manifest to find one extra box. Gathering the mysterious cargo, they calculated their navigation coordinates to return to the LS Dianoga to study their strange prize.
