Recap
The journey began in Crescentia, where the crew boarded the LS Dianoga after collectively inheriting the vessel following the sudden illness and passing of Captain Gordon. During a holographic probate hearing, the late captain’s cousin, Damian, was assigned the family tomb and mineral rights, while the crew received the ship, its gear, and his extensive filing cabinets. Within those files lay secrets of Treasure Planet‘s survival and the intergalactic capabilities of the mysterious Solnek Empire.
The crew processed their grief together as they prepared for their next venture. This diverse group consisted of Hazel Treerton, an Ewok-sized flying squirrel humanoid; Fletcher Morrow, who sought comfort in co-owning the ship; The Reverend Doctor Professor Archibald Grey, a hover-round-bound scholar who kept an algae-eating suckerfish in his jar; Nul Konn, a six-armed Ardinian; the ethereal Elayne, who communicated in strange sounds; and E.R.N.E., the pilot droid. When the droid received an under-the-table salvage request forwarded from the late captain’s contacts within The Ministry, the crew agreed to honor their retainer contract and set course for Dragon’s Nest.
As the ship traveled through the ether to the random meteor cloud, the crew settled into their routines. While Nul Konn rigged climbing ropes and Hazel Treerton successfully scavenged Signian whiskey to comfort Fletcher, Professor Grey calculated the astrogation equations. Upon arrival at the Dragon’s Nest, the crew attached their airlock to the aft loading dock of a wrecked freighter, whose cargo had been left behind after the previous crew’s rescue by the Ministry.
Stepping aboard the wreck, the crew quickly realized they were not alone when Hazel and Nul Konn heard the whirring of servos. Fletcher pinpointed the sounds of four four-legged machines and one larger two-legged machine. Drawing a pair of hardlight sword weapons, Fletcher advanced and engaged one of the Mechanical Guard Dogs, while E.R.N.E. drew a vibro-dagger and entered a rage.
The confrontation escalated rapidly as Nul Konn climbed a stack of crates to strike directly at the Giant Security Construct, using his blade defense to ward off its slamming counterattack. Archibald targeted the construct with telepathic feedback, though it proved immune to psychic damage. Seizing the moment, E.R.N.E. used his Potent Aptitude and Goggles of the Tinkerer to aid Hazel. Armed with this bonus, Hazel unleashed a rapid-fire volley from her sub-repeater blaster, dealing devastating damage from the shadows before shrouding the giant construct in darkness.
